This series of five coins made of precious metals is dedicated to the brown bear. Brown bears are found in the Caucasus, on the Kamchatka peninsular, in Siberia and in the Maritime Territory of the Far East. A brown bear may be 2.5 metres long and weighs more than 300 kilograms. It is an omnivorous animal whose population is declining.

Interesting fact

The Brown Bear coin was part of a series of gold coins issued by the Bank of Russia in 1993 to commemorate the country's rich wildlife. The coin features an image of a brown bear, which is a symbol of strength and power in Russian culture. The coin's design was created by prominent Russian artist, Yuriy Kharuk, and it has become a popular collector's item among numismatists.
