On September 8, 1380 the host of Dmitriy Ivanovich, the Grand Duke of Moscow and Vladimir, gained an absolute victory on Kulikovo Field over the Golden Horde troops led by its ruler Mamay. The Battle on Kulikovo Field was of great significance in the struggle of Russian and other peoples against the Tartar-Mongolian yoke. The dominance of the Golden Horde had been struck heavily on Kulikovo Field, so that it forced its following breakdown. An important consequence of the Battle on Kulikovo Field was the strengthening the role of Moscow by formation of the Russian State.

Interesting fact

The Battle on Kulikovo Field coin was minted to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Kulikovo, which took place in 1380. The battle was a significant event in Russian history, as it marked a decisive victory for the Russian forces over the Mongol Empire, which had been occupying Russia for over a century. The coin's design features an image of the battle, with Russian warriors on horseback charging towards the Mongol army. The coin's obverse side features the coat of arms of Russia and the inscription "25 Roubles."
