The 7,500-km Siberian section of the railway, runs from the Ural Mountains to Vladivostok via Omsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Taishet, Bratsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita and Khabarovsk. Built from 1891 to 1916, since 1967 the Trans-Siberian Railway has been used for running container services between Europe and Japan.
