Date of issue: 13 DEC 1993Modest Petrovich Moussorgsky (1839-1881) - a prominent Russian composer, known for his monumental operas based on dramatic historical events "Boris Godunov" and "Khovanshchina" and songs inspired by folk ballads, such as "Kalistrat", "The Orphan", etc. His vocal cycles "Sunless", "The Songs and Dances of Death" and "Children's Room" are still frequently performed at concerts.
