Issued to commemorate the 25th wedding anniversary of HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh with an issue limit of 100,000.5,000 issued as part of four Crown Silver Proof Collection which also included a 1977 Silver Jubilee Crown, a 1980 Queen Mother's 80th Birthday Crown and a 1981 Royal Wedding Crown, sourced from the secondary market.
250 issued as part of a 3-coin silver proof set which also included a 1997 Golden Wedding £5 and a 2007 Diamond Wedding £5, sourced from the secondary market.
This design was also struck in copper-nickel.
