Comment

The spotted eagle ray (Aetobatus narinari) is a cartilaginous fish of the eagle ray family, Myliobatidae. As traditionally recognised, it is found globally in tropical regions, including the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. Spotted eagle rays are most commonly seen alone, but occasionally swim in groups. They are ovoviviparous, the female retaining the eggs then releasing the young as miniature versions of the parent.

Interesting fact

The 2021 Australian Spotted Eagle Ray $25 non-circulating coin features a unique design that showcases the majesty of the eagle ray, a species native to the coastal waters of Australia. The coin's obverse features the 6th portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse depicts an eagle ray gliding gracefully through the water, its wings outstretched. The coin is made of 99.99% gold and weighs 7.777 grams. This coin is a beautiful representation of the natural beauty of Australia and is a must-have for any collector of unique and limited-edition coins.
