Congratulations to the world's most adored couple!
Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton met in 2001 at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. Four years of study in the same place brought them closer and closer, so that by the time they graduated in 2005, they were clearly a couple. Observers had long suspected that they would marry, so the engagement came as no surprise. Many, however, were elated at the announcement of the most eagerly awaited royal wedding in recent memory.
On April 29, 2011, the Kingdom of Great Britain, indeed the whole Commonwealth and the whole world, celebrated: long live the newlyweds!
His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton became engaged in October 2010 during a trip to Kenya. The Prince brought with him his engagement ring, a sumptuous 18-carat sapphire encircled by 14 diamonds, which had belonged to his mother Diana, Princess of Wales. He proposed in a way that Catherine found "very romantic and... very personal".
Clarence House made the official announcement to the world on November 16, 2010.
