Comment

Pachyrhinosaurus (meaning 'thick-nosed lizard') was an ceratopsian relative of Triceratops and Torosaurus that lived in the Late Cretaceous in Canada, though earlier than them. Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai bore comb-like horn arising from the middle of the frill behind the eyes. The first examples were discovered by Charles M. Sternberg in Alberta, Canada, in 1946, and named in 1950.

Interesting fact

The Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai, featured on the 25-cent coin, is a species of horned dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 76 to 65 million years ago. It is known for its distinctive pair of horns, which were believed to have been used for defense and visual display. The coin's design showcases the Pachyrhinosaurus in a running pose, highlighting its powerful legs and strong body.
