Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique reverse design that showcases Queen Elizabeth II participating in alpine skiing, which is a departure from the traditional depiction of the monarch in a formal setting. This design was created by Canadian artist and designer, Susanna Blunt, and it was the first time that the Queen had been depicted engaging in a sport on a Canadian coin. This coin was also part of a series of commemorative coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint to celebrate the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
