Issued in 1918.The mintage figure is the Town Hall's official figure; it is likely that a second mintage took place, as this coin is less rare than the official mintage would suggest (Gadoury-Elie 1990, p. 121).
The commune of Crécy-en-Brie became Crécy-la-Chapelle in 1972, when it merged with the neighboring commune of La Chapelle-sur-Crécy.
Interesting fact
The 25 Centimes coin from Crécy-en-Brie was issued during a time of great economic and political turmoil in France. The country was in the midst of World War I, and the government was struggling to finance the war effort. As a result, the French government decided to produce a new series of coins made of zinc, which was a cheaper and more readily available metal than the traditional bronze or silver used in previous coins. This coin, with its relatively low denomination and zinc composition, was intended to be used for everyday transactions and to help alleviate the shortage of small change in circulation. Despite its humble origins, the 25 Centimes coin from Crécy-en-Brie has become a sought-after collector's item among numismatists today.
