Provisional coinage of 1915-1923 was made in order to facilitate conversion from the Real system to the decimal system, because up to that point Real and Peso were both legal tender, but the Real was being phased out.

Interesting fact

The 1915 Guatemalan 25 Centavos coin features a unique design, with the national coat of arms on one side and a portrait of President Manuel Estrada Cabrera on the other. This coin was minted during a time of political and economic turmoil in Guatemala, and its production was interrupted by the outbreak of World War I. As a result, it is considered a rare and valuable collector's item.
