Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 25 Baiocchi coin from the Papal States, minted during the reign of Pope Pius VI (1795-1796), is that it was made of Billon, a type of alloy composed of copper, silver, and other metals. This coin was unique in that it was the first time the Papal States had used Billon in their coinage, and it was done as a cost-saving measure during a time of economic hardship. Despite the change in material, the coin still maintained its value and remained in circulation until the Papal States were annexed by France in 1809.
