Interesting fact
The coin , the Æ23 - Severus Alexander (ΜΗΘΥΜΝΑΙΩΝ; Methymna) (222-235) from Methymna (Conventus of Adramyteum) made of Bronze weighing 6.57 g, is a rare example of a Roman imperial coin that features a unique combination of symbols and letters. The coin's reverse side features a depiction of the goddess Roma seated on a throne, holding a scepter and a shield, while the obverse side features a portrait of Emperor Severus Alexander with the legend "SEVERUS ALEXANDER PIVS AVG" (Severus Alexander, Pious Emperor) surrounding it. What makes this coin particularly interesting is that it was issued during a time of great turmoil in the Roman Empire, known as the Year of the Six Emperors (235 AD), when there were six different emperors who ruled in quick succession. This coin was issued during the reign of Severus Alexander, who was the fourth of the six emperors and ruled for only a brief period of time before being assassinated. As a result, coins bearing his image and name are relatively rare and highly sought after by collectors.
