Issued by the Perth Mint & struck from 10oz of pure gold the Chinese phoenix at the centrepiece of this stunning coin has been individually crafted from rose gold and pave set pink diamonds. With its intricate plumage designed in three-dimensional relief, the phoenix appears to be landing on the fabled paulownia tree.According to legend the Chinese phoenix lived amid the branches of these trees, and their white and violet flowers, but fed only on morning dew to avoid harming any plants or animals. Struck in 99.99% pure gold, the tree also has three of its flowers handset with pink diamonds. Inscribed on the coin’s reverse are the words ‘THE JEWELLED PHOENIX’ and the Chinese character for phoenix, as well as The Perth Mint’s historical ‘P’ mintmark.
