A re-interpretation of William Wyon's original Gothic Crown from 1847, the third in a series of coins in the Great Engravers series. The coin was issued with both a plain edge (Issue Limit: 131) and reeded edge (Issue limit: 411).The coin was also struck in a variety of denominations in both gold and silver proof. Issue limit: 411.

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the coin is that it features a unique Gothic Crown design, which is a departure from the traditional depiction of the Queen's crown on British coins. The Gothic Crown is quartered with the arms of England, Scotland, and Ireland, and is surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves. This design was previously used on British coins in the 19th century and has been revived for this special issue.
