Comment
Saint Adalbert (2. Bishop of Prague) was member of Slavník dynasty, rival to Přemyslid dynasty. He was brother to Sobeslaus Slavník (link leads to his coin). His disputes with Přemyslid prince led to his leave from Bohemian lands into pagan Prussia in search of martyrdom. It is speculated that some of Slavník dynasty denars might have been minted in his name.
Interesting fact
The interesting fact about this coin is that it commemorates the death of St. Adalbert, a missionary and bishop who played a significant role in spreading Christianity in Central Europe during the 10th century. He was born in the Czech Republic and was later martyred in Prussia (now part of Poland). The coin's design features an image of St. Adalbert and the date of his death, April 23, 997.
