Comment

Isabella I (Spanish: Isabel I; 22 April 1451 – 26 November 1504), also called Isabella the Catholic (Spanish: Isabel la Católica), was Queen of Castile and León from 1474 until her death in 1504. She was also Queen of Aragon from 1479 until her death as the wife of King Ferdinand II. Reigning together over a dynastically unified Spain, Isabella and Ferdinand are known as the Catholic Monarchs.

Interesting fact

The Isabella I of Castile - 4 Excelentes coin, minted in 2004, was the first gold coin issued by the Spanish Royal Mint to feature a woman on its obverse (front side). This was a significant departure from traditional coin design, which typically featured male figures or symbols. The coin's reverse (back side) features the famous "4 Excelentes" design, which represents the four kingdoms of Spain: Castile, León, Aragon, and Navarre. This design was first used on the Spanish dollar coin in the 16th century and has since become a symbol of Spanish identity.
