Reverse
The motif, by Canadian artist Pierre Leduc, features a close-up of the stealthy hunter that is the Canada lynx (Lynx canadensis). Its thick, shaggy winter coat is rendered with remarkable precision, from the black tip of its goatee to the fine whiskers on either side of its face. Despite the predator's elusive nature, his fierce gaze is arrested as he opens his mouth to express his displeasure and reveal sharp fangs. The lynx's ears and bristling tufts suggest that it has already detected the intruder that draws its attention in the direction of the viewer.

Comment
Native to the boreal forest that stretches from the Yukon to Newfoundland and Labrador, the Canada lynx (Lynx canadensis) is one of the most widespread wild cats in Canada. Yet it's rare to come across this stealthy, agile predator. This pure gold piece captures the great beauty of this elusive fawn in an artistic tour de force. The use of a very pronounced relief for this Canada lynx coin gives the animal's head a sculptural appearance.
Packaging
The coin is encapsulated and presented in a burgundy double-shell case featuring the Royal Canadian Mint logotype. The case comes with a specially designed protective box.
Interesting fact
