This coin was designed by Polish artist and sculptor, Xawery Dunikowski, who was known for his work in the Socialist Realism style. The obverse of the coin features a portrait of a young woman, representing the spirit of Nowa Huta, a new town built near Krakow, Poland. The reverse of the coin depicts the coat of arms of Poland, surrounded by a wreath of laurel leaves.
