The 1996 Polish 20 Zlotys coin commemorating the 4th century of Warsaw as the capital features a unique design that incorporates a piece of history. The coin's reverse side features a depiction of the Warsaw Mermaid, a symbol of the city, holding a shield with the city's coat of arms. The mermaid is surrounded by a circle of 12 stars, representing the 12 months of the year. This design was created by Polish artist and engraver, Andrzej Nowakowski.
