Comment

Brontosaurus meaning "thunder lizard" is a genus of gigantic quadruped sauropod dinosaurs. Brontosauruses (or brontosauri) had long, thin necks and small heads adapted for a herbivorous lifestyle; bulky, heavy torsos; and long, whip-like tails. The various species lived during the late Jurassic epoch in the Morrison Formation of North America and were extinct by the end of the Jurassic. Adult brontosauruses are estimated to weigh up to 15 tonnes (15 long tons; 17 short tons) and measure up to 22 metres (72 ft) long.

Interesting fact

The Brontosaurus featured on the 20 Won coin from North Korea is actually a misidentification of a dinosaur. The creature depicted on the coin is actually a Sauroposeidon, not a Brontosaurus. Sauroposeidon was a type of sauropod dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, around 110 million years ago. It had a long neck and tail, and was herbivorous. The mistake in identification is likely due to the fact that the coin was designed based on a misunderstanding or misinterpretation of the dinosaur's name.
