Comment
Local imitation, similar to the 1255 year 2 gold coins (KM#3).The key difference between the Sudan imitation and the Ottoman original is the form of the crescents around the center, as can be seen by comparing this piece with the normal Ottoman example Zeno-158126.
Probably imitation of Ottoman Empire KM# 675
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was created during a time of great turmoil in Sudan, specifically during the Mahdist War, which lasted from 1881 to 1899. The Mahdist State was established by Muhammad Ahmad, who claimed to be the Mahdi, or the redeemer of Islam, and sought to overthrow the British colonial rule in Sudan. Despite the challenges and conflicts of the time, the coin still holds significant historical and cultural value, offering a glimpse into the economic and political systems of the Mahdist State.
