Comment

Máximo Gomez (1836-1905) Was a Cuban hero born at Dominican Republic who fought against Spanish forces in the first independence war.
On October 26th., 1868 he guided Cuban troops against Spanish, and attacked using machetes (long knife with wide blade used to cut sugarcane), since most of them were country workers. The use of machete revealed to be a very effective weapon, because of his effectivity, and mainly for it caused panic in the Spanish troops, visually much bigger than swords, and by its sound.
