Comment

The specifications of this coin point to it being a trial strike because of how inconsistent it would be in the currency set at the time. Relating to the 10 Peso coin which were made of 0.875 Gold with a weight of 14.6774 grams, the ideal specifications for a 20 Peso coin would be double that 0.875 Gold with 29.3548 grams, rather than 0.900 Gold with 32.258 grams. If this coin was to circulate it would be worth 22.3 Pesos.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 1873 Costa Rican 20 Pesos coin is that it features a unique design, showcasing a portrait of Juan Santamaria, a national hero who played a significant role in the country's history.
