The 2008 Royal Shield reverse design by Matthew Dent does not include the year and this should have appeared on the obverse. A number of coins were struck using the undated obverse die that had previously been used with the dated reverse of the crowned Tudor rose, The Royal Mint estimates less than 250,000 were minted.
