Interesting fact
The 20 Paise coin from India, which was in circulation from 1968 to 1971, was made of Nickel brass, a copper and zinc alloy. This coin was unique in that it was the first coin in India to feature the national emblem, the Ashoka Chakra, on its reverse side. The Ashoka Chakra is a symbol of the Buddhist dharma and is also found on the Indian national flag. This coin was a significant departure from the previous coinage of India, which had featured the British monarch's effigy. The introduction of the Ashoka Chakra on the 20 Paise coin was a reflection of India's growing sense of national identity and independence.
