The Zaire flag was created as part of Mobutu's attempted re-Africanization of the nation and had Lighted torch at the centre which is a common emblem of both enlightenment and hope.

Interesting fact

The 20 Makuta coin from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (then known as Zaire) has an interesting design feature. On the reverse side of the coin, there is an image of a man standing in front of a palm tree, with the sun setting in the background. The man is depicted with a raised arm, holding a spear, and the design is meant to represent the country's rich cultural heritage and the importance of agriculture. The coin's design was created by the artist, Pierre Grivet, and it is a unique and distinctive feature of this coin.
