The commemorative coin is dedicated to the first mintage of Kyiv Rus coins, i.e. zlatnyky and sriblianyky, at the end of 10th- early 11th centuries during the rule of the Kyiv Prince Volodymyr the Great.

Interesting fact

The 20 Hryven coin from Ukraine, minted in 2008, features an image of the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv on its obverse side. This cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the most important landmarks in Ukraine's capital city. The coin's reverse side features the Ukrainian coat of arms and the inscription "20 Hryven" in Ukrainian.
