The coins were placed into circulation on February 18, 1922 replacing old Austro-Hungarian iron 20 Heller coins which where revalued from face value to 10 h and subsequently demonetized.

This coin circulated also after the World War II from 4th July 1945 to 31st December 1947.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 20 Haléřů coin from Czechoslovakia is that it was designed by the Czech artist and sculptor, Otakar Španiel. He was a prominent figure in the Czech art scene and is known for his work on various coins, medals, and monuments throughout the country. The coin features a portrait of Tomáš Masaryk, the first president of Czechoslovakia, on one side, and a depiction of the Czechoslovakian coat of arms on the other. Španiel's design was chosen as the winner of a competition held by the Czechoslovakian National Bank in 1921, and the coin was minted from 1921 to 1938.
