Till 2002 the privy marks are on the reverse, from 2003 on the privy marks are on the obverse.Till 2001 R·JOLY as designer's name, from 2002 R JOLY (without the dot in between).
In 1972 these coins were minted in Paris. From 1977 to 2005 they were minted in Pessac.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design that reflects the culture and history of New Caledonia, an overseas territory of France in the Pacific Ocean. The coin's obverse side features a portrait of a Kanak woman, a member of the indigenous people of New Caledonia, wearing a traditional headdress and necklace. The reverse side features a depiction of a traditional Kanak hut, surrounded by palm trees and a mountainous backdrop. This design was created by the French engraver, Pierre Rodier, and was used on all 20 Franc coins issued by New Caledonia between 1972 and 2005.
