Comment

This first pattern was not appreciated by the parliament. The lock of hair on the forehead was considered too frivolous and the artist was asked to remove it.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Pattern 20 Francs "Vreneli" (Pattern) 1897 from Switzerland is that it features a unique design that was never adopted for circulation. The coin's obverse depicts a portrait of a young woman, known as "Vreneli," which was created by the artist and engraver, Karl Schwenzer. The design was meant to represent the Swiss nation, but it was ultimately rejected in favor of a more traditional design featuring the Swiss coat of arms. As a result, the Pattern 20 Francs "Vreneli" (Pattern) 1897 is a rare and sought-after collector's item among numismatists.
