Warrior (representing John the Blind) straddling to the right with the crested helmet, brandishing a sword with his right hand and covering himself with a shield with the arms of Luxembourg. Behind him is a banner inscribed with its motto in hollow. Around the legend in Luxembourg, the initials of the engraver at 5 o'clock and below the date of death of John the Blind and the date of issue of the coin.

Coin issued by order of the Grand-Ducal Decree of 29 September 1947 for an amount of 2 million francs. They were struck at the Brussels mint with an alloy of silver (835 ‰) and copper (165 ‰) and a tolerance of 3 mils. The tolerance of the weight being 10 thousandths.After demonetization in 1955, 2000 pieces were restruck in 1964 while retaining the mint year of 1946. The relief of these pieces is less pronounced than on the original strikes and the groove is irregular, or even absent in certain places.
A piece commemorating the heroic decease of John the Blind at the battle of Crécy on August 26, 1346, on the other side the transport of his ashes from Kastel-Staadt to the crypt of the Notre-Dame of Luxembourg on 26 August 1946.
