Module of the 20 franc gold coin, commemorating the millennium of the city of Luxembourg. Minted at the Brussels monetary workshop.
The reverse, depicting a three-crenellated tower, symbolizes the first municipal seal of the city of Luxembourg, affixed to a deed of 1237. The same tower was also used on the Ermesinde denarius with the three-crenellated tower (L#2-1) circa 1226-1241. A similar tower (with 4 battlements) was used for Henry VI's denier au globe (L#13) and his denier au fleuron (L#14).

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Pattern 20 Francs Charlotte (Essai) 1963 from Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (Luxembourg) made of Bronze weighing 3.05g is that it features a unique design that was never officially adopted as a circulating coin. The Pattern 20 Francs Charlotte was created as a trial or experimental coin, and only a small number of them were minted. As a result, it has become a highly sought-after collector's item among numismatists.
