In 2014 new banknotes were introduced, next the Institute of Overseas Emission (IEOM) launched new Pacific Franc coins for the three French communities in the Pacific: New Caledonia, French Polynesia and the Wallis and Futuna Islands. The diversity and identity of the three French communities in the Pacific is displayed on the new range of coins, that have been put into circulation gradually from September 1, 2021.On Februari 26th of 2022, the meaning of 'CFP' officially was changed from the 1945 meaning 'Colonies Françaises du Pacifique' (French Colonies of the Pacific) to 'Collectivités Françaises du Pacifique' (French Communities of the Pacific), due to a decrete from September 15th, 2021. Inbetween, unofficially, 'Communauté financière du Pacifique' (Pacific Financial Community) and 'Change Franc Pacifique'(Pacific Franc Exchange) were used as the meaning for CFP.
