The Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi 20 Euro coin was designed by the French sculptor and engraver, Joaquin Jimenez, and features a portrait of Bartholdi, the designer of the Statue of Liberty, on the obverse (front side). The reverse (back side) of the coin depicts the Statue of Liberty itself, along with the inscription "LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ" (Liberty, Equality, Fraternity) which is the national motto of France.
