Comment

1st issue in the 8-coin series.

The Battle of Neuve-Chapelle took place between the 10th and 13th of March 1915 during the First World War. The battle was an ultimately successful (although perhaps pyrrhic) attempt by the British Expeditionary Force, supported by Indian and Canadian troops, to break through a German front line. This goal was ultimately achieved, with a 2 kilometre advance. This came at a cost of 12 892 allied men, including 100 Canadians. The Canadians were in charge of provided cover-fire via artillery guns.

Interesting fact

The interesting fact about this coin is that it commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, a significant battle during World War I, where Canadian troops played a key role in the Allied forces' victory.
