Comment
Although reminiscent of the antelope of the African continent, Antilocapra americana is native to North America, and is the only member of the Antilocapridae family. It is distinguished from ungulate game by its keratinous, curved horns, which are unique because of the forward-pointing claws. The horn sheath falls off each year in late autumn and begins to grow back in spring, reaching maximum length in midsummer. Antilocapre doesn't jump higher than 90 centimetres, but this one-metre russet-brown ruminant can reach 85 kilometers an hour in a sprint and maintain a pace of around 40 kilometers an hour over very long distances.Every day, the dramatic tales of the wilderness are played out in Canada's vast landscapes, as they have been for millennia.
Packaging
The coin is encapsulated and presented in a padded burgundy double-shell case adorned with the Royal Canadian Mint logo. The case comes with a black protective box.
