"Space: the frontier of infinity, towards which our spaceship travels.

Before man set foot on the moon, he was already exploring the possibilities of the far reaches of our galaxy through the power of his imagination.

The Star Trek series has taken us on an exhilarating journey through time and space. Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Uhura, Sulu and Chekov... these fictional characters played pioneering roles in this uncharted territory. Guided by the Prime Directive and the spirit of discovery, the starship U.S.S. Enterprise and its crew have transported us to over 70 different worlds, encountering almost as many alien species along the way. Their fictional mission inspired many Canadians to pursue careers in science and technology, and their futuristic devices inspired the smartphones and tablets that have since transformed our daily lives.

Even today, the Enterprise is associated with extraordinary discoveries, unforgettable first contacts and memorable opponents - from the fearsome ships of the Klingon Imperial Fleet to the undetectable Romulan Bird of Prey. Reruns of all 79 episodes have cemented the series' reputation as a cultural icon, and it's praised across the country, especially in Canada's official Star Trek capital: the town of Vulcan, Alberta.

Did you know?
The first Star Trek program aired on Canadian television two days before it "premiered" on its own network!
Two models of the Enterprise were used throughout the filming of the series: a 3.4-metre (11-foot) studio model and a smaller 0.9-metre (3-foot) model, used mainly for promotional purposes.
Built in 1964, the studio model underwent eight major modifications, the last in 1967 during the filming of the famous episode Tribulations.
According to Star Trek's fictional timeline, the Enterprise served for 40 years in Starfleet's galactic fleet, and enjoyed its most glorious period during the five-year command of Captain Kirk (played by Canadian actor William Shatner).
Several versions of the ship were built under the name "U.S.S. Enterprise". The original series bears the (fictitious) serial number NCC-1701, to which a letter has been added to distinguish each subsequent version (e.g. NCC-1701-B).
A replica was built in 1995 in Vulcan, Alberta, where "Spock Days" attract Star Trek fans from all over the world every year!

Packaging
The coin is encapsulated and presented in a burgundy double-shell case adorned with the Royal Canadian Mint logo. The case comes with an illustrated protective box.Automatically translated

Interesting fact
