Comment

This beautifully engraved and colored 99.99% pure silver coin features the admiral butterfly, whose Canadian habitat is largely limited to southern Ontario. The colors and spots adorning this graceful butterfly are an important adaptation aimed at protecting it. In fact, the Admiral butterfly has evolved to mimic a venomous butterfly, the Aristolochia butterfly.

The limenitis arthemis astyanax closely resembles its close relative, the white admiral, a very common butterfly. The upper wing is a brilliant shade of bluish purple, highlighted by several rows of blue-white lines. The upper hindwing is embellished with lovely blue-green squares. Where their ranges overlap, the Admiral also bears the white bands that characterize the White Admiral. Admiral butterflies are most often found on the outskirts of wooded areas, on sunny gravel roads and in clearings.

Did you know?
- Admiral butterflies generally lay their eggs on plum and oak leaves.
- Adults fly all summer long, from June to mid-September. It is diurnal, meaning it is active only during daylight hours.

Packaging
The coin is encapsulated and presented in a burgundy double-shell case adorned with the Royal Canadian Mint logo. The case is accompanied by a protective box decorated with a hologram.Automatically translated

Interesting fact

The Red-Spotted Purple Butterfly coin is a unique and beautiful collector's item, but it's also interesting to note that the butterfly depicted on the coin is not a real species. It's actually a hybrid of two different butterfly species, the Red Admiral and the Purple Butterfly, which were combined to create a new and visually striking design. This coin is a great example of how art and nature can come together in a creative and imaginative way.
