Comment

After 20 years in development, the Bras d'or began her sea trials in 1968. She performed brilliantly, "flying" on her foils at speeds of up to over 60 knots. Even in swells of 10 ft, she was more comfortable foilborne at 40 knots than an observing frigate was at 18.Her future looked promising, but a shift in defence policy brought a sudden end to her career in 1971.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 2003 Canadian $20 Elizabeth II (HCMS Bras d'or FHE-400) silver coin is that it has a unique edge design that features a raised floral pattern, which adds an extra layer of beauty and detail to the coin's design.
