Comment
With permafrost to the north, deserts to the south and varied geography from east to west, Canada abounds in extraordinary forests, each home to its own unique flora and fauna. The Carolinian forest represents just one percent of Canada's land mass, but is home to more species of flowers and animals than any other ecosystem in the country, including a third of all threatened and endangered species. This forested area lies in the southernmost part of Ontario, between Windsor and Toronto, and borders Lake Ontario as far east as Bellville and as far north as Goderich. Every spring, the tulip tree it shelters produces large, tulip-like flowers (Liriodendron tulipifera). This fast-growing tree can reach a height of 35 metres.
