In 1902 a big portion of the coins (240,000) were taken out of circulation.

Interesting fact

The coin features a portrait of King Léopold I, who was the first king of Belgium and ruled from 1831 until his death in 1865. The coin was minted during his reign, and its design was inspired by the French coinage system, which had a similar 20 centime coin.
