Comment

This is one of the rarest pieces of all Italy Kingdom coinage, since it has been withdrawn from circulation and remelted quite immediately after its issuance. This because it is very similar to the golden 5 lire. Only 5-10 pieces are known to exist.

Interesting fact

The coin features a portrait of Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of a unified Italy, on its obverse side. The reverse side of the coin depicts the coat of arms of the House of Savoy, which was the royal family of Italy at the time. The coin was minted in 1863, just a few years after Italy's unification in 1861, and it was used as a standard circulation coin in Italy until the early 20th century. I hope you find this information helpful and interesting!
