Comment
A similar later restrike using original dies of the Buenos aires mint, clearly struck over an Argentina 1887 or 1888 gold Argentino (KM31). An amount of 187,500 coins of this denomination was authorized in the September 13, 1889 law but none were struck.According to the contract between the Buenos Aires Mint (Casa de Moneda de la República Argentina) and a representative of Paraguay, a whole series of coins had to be minted in silver: 5, 10, 20, 50 centavos and 1 peso. But actually, only 1 peso was minted in 1889. Other coins are known only as pattern strikes.
