Interesting fact

The Augustus coin from Emerita (Lusitania) is interesting because it features an image of Augustus, the first Roman Emperor, on one side, and a depiction of a Roman warship on the other. This coin was minted during Augustus' reign, which lasted from 27 BC to 14 AD, and it was used as a standard circulation coin in the Roman Empire. The fact that it was made of bronze and weighs 5.69 grams suggests that it was a widely used coin for everyday transactions. Additionally, the image of the warship on the reverse side of the coin may indicate the importance of the Roman navy during this time period.
