Comment
Note: The weight and diameter of these coins vary quite a bit, these coins have a mass of 7g to 10g and a diameter of 28.6-30mm. These coins were struck with handmade dies, which is why there are a lot of different types of it. To strike these coins, the fortress used silver that was previously used as decoration in the church. Despite being struck in a relatively high number (for a smaller fortress), they were only circulating for one day, as the fortress was conquered by Russian troops the next day. This is the second Polish coin minted during a siege, next to coins minted during the siege of Gdańsk in 1577.
Interesting fact
The Siege of Zamość coin, minted in 1813, was created to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the siege of Zamość during the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth's war with the Russian Empire. The coin's design features a depiction of the city's fortifications and a soldier standing guard, symbolizing the bravery and resilience of the city's defenders during the siege.
