Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during a time of great change in the German States. The Duchy of Anhalt-Bernburg, where the coin was minted, was one of the many small states that made up the German Confederation, a loose association of states that existed from 1815 to 1866. During this time, there was a lot of political and economic upheaval, including the Revolutions of 1848, which aimed to create a unified German state. Despite these challenges, the Duchy of Anhalt-Bernburg was able to maintain its independence and continue minting its own coins, like this 2 Thalers / 3½ Gulden coin, until it was eventually absorbed into the Kingdom of Prussia in 1863.
