Michael Alexandrovich Sholokhov (1905-1984) – Russian writer, Nobel Prize-holder who has written the novels «And Quiet Flows The Don», «Virgin Soil Upturned», «Fighting for the Motherland», the stories «The Fate of a Man», «Tales From The Don» and other works.

Interesting fact

The coin features a portrait of Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov, a Russian writer and Nobel laureate, on its obverse side. Sholokhov is best known for his novel "And Quiet Flows the Don," which tells the story of a family of Cossacks during the Russian Civil War. The coin was issued in 2005 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Sholokhov's birth.
