Date of issue: 31 JAN 2023The Russian opera and chamber singer had a unique bass voice. During different periods, he was the leading singer at the Bolshoi Theatre, the Mariinsky Theatre, and the Metropolitan Opera. His repertoire included nearly 400 compositions — opera arias, songs, and romances. In 1918, Feodor Chaliapin became the first man of art in Soviet Russia to be granted the title of People’s Artist of the Republic.
