The interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Solzhenitsyn, a renowned Russian writer and Nobel laureate, who was exiled from the Soviet Union in 1974 and returned to Russia in 1994. The coin features a portrait of Solzhenitsyn on one side and the Russian coat of arms on the other.
